Lecture by Academician Pinxian Wang: Disputes over global warming
On Nov. 26th, academician and famous marine geologist Prof. Pinxian Wang gave a lecture titling Disputes over Global Warming to more than 200 Tongji students as part of the university’s public lecture series on Sustainable Development and Future.The lecture, covering a wide range of topics concerning global warming with vivid but profound illustrations, led students into the ocean of knowledge from politic, academic and other perspectives: from international community’s concerns to their respective “climate diplomacy”, from connections between global warming and green house gases to governmental stances on carbon emissions, from academic arguments over the issue to different beliefs brought by diverse cultural backgrounds, and from the atmosphere to the whole earth system.
Prof. Wang graduated from Moscow State University, and worked as a visiting scholar doing in Kiel University of Germany. He was elected Member of Chinese Academy of Science in 1991, and is now professor of the School of Ocean and Earth Science of Tongji and director of the academic committee of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology.
