Appointment Ceremony held for Prof. ZENG Hongliu
On June 17th, 2013, an appointment ceremony for Prof. ZENG Hongliu serving as guest professor of Tongji University was held in the School of Ocean and Earth Science. The ceremony, hosted by the school’s secretary of Party Committee Prof. GENG Jianhua, was attended by Ms. MA Jinming, deputy secretary of Party Committee of Tongji univ., and Prof. ZHONG Guangfa, Prof. DONG Liangguo and Prof. YANG Fengli from the school.
Prof. Geng first introduced Prof. Zeng of his educational background, research areas and some of his academic achievements. Ms. Ma presented the appointment certificate to Zeng, and expressed her appreciation to Zeng for his achievements in scientific work and contribution to sedimentology researches, and hoped that he could help promote further development of Tongji’s ocean and earth sciences.
Mr. Zeng said that he felt honored to receive the guest professorship, and would work with Tongji with all sincere efforts to pursue further achievements in research works and talents cultivation.
Zeng also gave a presentation on Stratal Slice: Meaning and scope of Application in the school’s lecture hall.
About Prof. ZENG Hongliu
Mr. Zeng currently serves as professor in the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated and acquired his doctoral degree in geophysics in 1994. He has been working on the interpretive theory, method and application of Seismology and Geology, and has published over 50 articles in international journals such as Geophysics, AAPG Bulletin, and one English monograph. He won the AAPG Wallace E. Pratt Award in 2005.
Zeng worked as geologist and senior geologist in Texaco International Exploration from 1994 to 1997, associate professor from 1997 to 2012 and professor from 2012 in Univ. of Texas at Austin. He also serves as an adjunct professor in China University of Petroleum and China University of Geosciences
