The First Plenary Meeting for 2013 Held

On March 12, 2013, the School’s first plenary meeting of this year was held in the lecture hall of Ocean Building. Faculty and staff members as well as post-doctors of the School attended the meeting, which was hosted by the Secretary of Party General Branch of the School of Ocean and Earth Science Jianhua Geng. Relative issues of the school were announced respectively by Vice Dean of the School Peng Yu, Deputy Secretary of Party General Branch Mei Lin, Vice Dean Zhifei Liu and Party Secretary Jianhua Geng, and opinions from the attendees were gathered.

The School’s recent teaching, student affairs and research work were firstly introduced during the meeting, and detailed information on our undergraduate education, graduate program enrollment, students’ current studies and our graduates’ employment were illustrated. The School is now making active preparations for the coming second round of MOE assessment on undergraduate programs. It will continue to adhere to the concept of student-oriented, promote curriculum construction, optimize managerial procedures, strengthen its disciplinary competitiveness and develop professional skills, and to cultivate more competent talents.

The School has also announced related issues of 2013 annual assessment concerning the criteria, financial budget, management and safety regulations. It has released a series of criteria for the annual assessment of full-time teachers, whose works will be evaluated by three types of standards: teaching type, teaching and research type, research type, and will have to meet either of the two conditions: the necessary condition or the excellent condition.

Secretary of Party General Branch Jianhua Geng also announced the results of the university’s 2012 annual assessment, in which our leadership won “excellent team” prize. He further analyzed the problems we are still encountering, and said that the leadership would continue to improve its working manner, to gather strength and collect wisdom by linking school faculty members closely together, to enhance communication and improve efficiency, so as to create a good working atmosphere for the school’s disciplinary development.
