State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology (Tongji University) 2012 Laboratory Open Fund Project begin to apply

    Recently, the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology at Tongji University released the Guidelines and the Regulations of 2012 Laboratory Open Fund Project Application.

   The Laboratory Open Fund Project supports fundamental researches related to main research areas of the Laboratory, and both domestic and overseas scientists, especially young researchers, are encouraged to apply. The Laboratory is open to all funded scientists and facilitates their accesses to laboratory devices and equipments, samples, and data. All funded scientists are required to visit and work in the Laboratory for a short period of time. In 2012, two types of funding projects will be considered: two-year project (type A) can have a total budget not exceeding 100,000 RMB; (2) one-year project (type B) cannot exceed 50,000 RMB in the total budget.The application deadline for 2012 projects is September 30, 2012.

   The State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology at Tongji University features in researches in deep sea and sea-land interactions, and is active in promoting domestic disciplinary development and international academic competitions. Based on leading researches in marine geology and geophysics, the Laboratory is rated as an “Excellent Laboratory” in the 2010 annual evaluation of national key laboratories by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. In recent years, the Laboratory strengthens the research and experimental capabilities in fields like geochemistry and geomicrobiology, and builds multidisciplinary research focuses in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and life sciences, and emphasizes both in-situ observations of modern processes and interpretations of geological records.
